Description
Vive la tarte was founded in 2011 with the intention of providing guests with an extraordinary bakery experience without the usual hassle. It was established by Julie and Arnaud Goethals as a bakery pop-up experience servicing the Bay Area.
Under the banner of Vive la tarte, the Belgian born duo served scrumptious pastries in all sorts of locations and events, from the back of their vw bus at the Haight Street Farmer’s Market to a thousand people crowd at the SF Design Week. Through the years, the goal was to eventually open a brick and mortar where the ideas of Vive la tarte could be materialized.
In May of 2015, Vive la tarte opened its doors in a former printing house located in the historic and vibrant San Francisco neighborhood of South of Market. This is where amazing baked goods are crafted every day in the form of croissants, sourdough focaccia, smashed avo toasts and tarts. A delightful selection of drinks, provided in collaboration with Sightglass Coffee and August Uncommon Tea is also found to pair with the food.
The aspiration was to design an experience that was friendly and approachable, serving the neighborhood as a bakery and community space.
In January 2018, Vive la tarte opened a second location at the Ferry Building and launched the TACRO, a unique hybrid between a croissant and a Taco.
